Detailed Description
Owing to their symmetrical beam balances, the THEMYS line of thermal analysers combine the highest sensitivity, stability, and the most accurate measurements of mass variations vs temperature or time.
Most systems within the THEMYS family line provide the user with a high level of versatility thanks to a modular design. It may include the simultaneous measurement of heat flow
and mass variations with the STA versions of the instruments, or the identification of evolved gases by coupling the instruments with gas analysers, or the measurement of dimensional changes with a TMA module.
While horizontal thermo balances lead to perturbations of the mass variations and temperature signals when the sample transforms, the vertical design benefits from good stability.
When combined with the hang-down principle, the sample can be hung to the balance using very thin suspensions. They minimize the drift of the mass variation signal with temperature, which is also known as buoyancy effect. Finally, the dual furnace version of hang-down balances are designed to directly subtract this drift from the mass variation signal and reach the best stability and thus the highest measurement accuracy possible.

MICROCALVET CALORIMETRY FAMILY
Owing to their 3D sensors and Joule effect calibration, the MICROCALVET line of micro calorimeters combine the highest sensitivity and the most accurate measurements of temperature and of:
- Heat: for the characterization of any heat releasing or heat absorbing phenomenon
- Specific Heat Capacity (CP) : for any application requiring this key thermo physical property, like heat transfer calculation or heat management
The micro calorimeters of the MICROCALVET line use the latest evolution of the 3D sensor design in which a sample and reference cells are surrounded by semiconductor-based Peltier elements allowing for the measurement of all heat including radiation, convection or conduction. The 3D sensor is up to 95% efficient whereas typical plate DSC sensors are between 30-50%.
MICROCALVET line sensors use a specific electrical calibration also called Joule effect. It can be performed at any constant temperature, or under scanning conditions, and does not require reference materials.
The combination of 3D sensor efficiency and absolute Joule effect calibration provides an unparalleled accuracy of measurement independent of sample nature or matrix – solid, liquid, gas, powder etc.
